The world of the generous gets larger and larger.

Proverbs 11:24

  • We invite you to tithe at Salt. You can do so by setting up an AP into 03-0726-0484120-04 using the reference Surname, Giving Number & Tithes.
As an audited Charitable Trust, you can claim back 33.33% of what you have donated at the end of the financial year. We use allocated giving numbers to generate donations receipts which you can use for this purpose.

If you want to know more about tithing or have any questions, come and have a chat with us or get in touch.

  • Alongside tithing we invite you to be a part of the Beyond Us story here at Salt. We pray for and finance initiatives that are making a difference in the world and in our local community.

It’s funding from everyday people at Salt that see: children in Thailand hearing about the Good News of Christ, families in Cambodia having access to clean water through the digging of wells, support for Cambodian churches who feed the poor and homeless, God-conversations through outreach in the Middle East, and backpacks of care given to children fleeing violent homes right here in Palmerston North. This kind of work is the work that needs your prayers and support.

Consumerism and looking after only ourselves is an easy road to walk, and yet God calls us to walk a different way. To think of the least. To be generous with the poor. To shine light in dark places. To be a life-line to those who desperately need our help. To live a life of sacrificial giving - just as Jesus did. Let’s keep writing a story with our lives that goes far Beyond Us.

You can give by setting up an AP into 03-0726-0484120-00 using the reference Surname, Giving Number & Beyond Us.

Please note only NZ based giving towards NZ based projects and funds are eligible for IRD tax rebate on donations.

Teaching in Ethiopia

  • Courtney has been part of Salt Church since she was 16 years old. Growing up in Palmerston North, Courtney developed a deep heart for missions, especially in Africa. After sensing a strong call from God to teach in Africa, she pursued a career in education and has been teaching in local schools for nearly seven years.

In July 2025, she will move to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to step into a long-awaited dream of serving through teaching.

    • Teaching at an international school in Addis Ababa that serves local Ethiopian children and the children of missionaries serving in the area.

    • Supporting missionary families by providing education for their children.

A call to action, a move of faith.

REACHING THE UNREACHED: YADAV PEOPLE, INDIA.

The Yadav people of Northern India—54 million strong—are one of the largest unreached people groups in the world. Less than 1% of Uttar Pradesh, a state of over 240 million, follows Christ. Since 2006, Pastor Nathaniel Satya and his team have planted over 1,200 churches, trained leaders, and provided education and skills to vulnerable communities. Now, Salt Church is stepping out in faith to partner in this incredible mission.

Ps Nathaniel &
The Blessing Church Society

"In 2005, after attending the ‘Perspectives on World Missions’ course, I felt God challenge me to adopt an unreached people group. Choosing one from over 16,000 was daunting, so I turned to the youth in Satsang. We prayed, researched, and were led to the Yadav people of Northern India. A single connection in 2006 opened the door, and by 2012, the first church was planted. Today, the work has spread across five states, with over 1,200 churches being planted and countless lives transformed. And this is just the beginning.”

— Pastor Nathaniel Satya

Good News Thailand

  • The Good News Team in Thailand is a committed team of local Thais who regularly travel throughout Thailand sharing the gospel in a fun way (mainly in state-run Buddhist schools).

Quite literally hundreds of thousands of Thai children have been reached by the Good News Team and its literature.

Some of the children that were receivers of the literature from Good News Thailand are now leaders in the Thai Church, and some are now leading the Good News Team itself.

In 1978 New Zealand World Outreach missionaries Lorraine Dierck and Valerie Bateup started the Good News Team. Salt was the first church to support Val and the team regularly all those years ago. The great story of reaching the children of Thailand for Christ continues with Win and Kanchana leading the way -  both passionate, gifted and experienced disciplers of young people who lead a midweek club and a Sunday church for young people.

    • Create and distribute booklets tailored to children which tell the gospel story.

    • Visit state schools where they are able to present the Gospel to the whole school.

    • Send packets of these booklets to school libraries throughout Thailand.

    • Up to 10% of children who receive a booklet then write for more information about Jesus.

    • On average five to ten children, and their families, will read each booklet. In many homes they are a treasured possession.

Love Cambodia

  • In 2001, Mark and Janice Somerville were sent out from Salt Church to love and minister to the people of Cambodia. From 1976-1978, Cambodia experienced mass genocide – the loss of up to 3 million lives, countless fled the country and many who remained were displaced. The nation was devastated, and the effects of the genocide remain to this day. In 2024, after dedicating a third of their lives to serving in Cambodia, Mark and Janice have passed the baton on to Dave and Heidi Fraser who will continue the great work they have pioneered. Love Cambodia continues to serve the region of Kampong Cham alongside local leaders.

    • Support for local churches who feed the poor and homeless.

    • Families having access to clean water through the digging of wells.

Missionaries in the Middle East

Placed in the midst of turmoil and conflicts M, D & P (name suppression for their safety) – are building relationship and sharing the love of Christ with unreached people groups.

    • Cultural and language learning

    • Engaging with locals as a family and sharing the Gospel message

    • Building relationships with local youth & refugees through skateboarding

He Kete Aroha - Backpack Outreach

  • BPO was founded by Teriria Stephenson with the support of her family. Teriria’s experience as a child being rescued by the Women’s Refuge left a lasting impact on her life. Being moved by similar charities, she decided this was one way to give back and impact the lives of others for the better. From filling backpacks in her home the outreach has grown into what it is now. The backpacks are targeted to displaced, vulnerable and at risk children and families living in the Manawatu region.

  • We make packages of care for at risk children to make them feel loved, to feel a sense of pride and belonging with practical items that encourage a creative outlet, good hygiene and self care. Our goal is to support as many children and organisations as we can in the Manawatu.
